Beetroot & Ginger Run Shot

Take one shot 30 minutes before your run on an empty or light stomach. The nitrates need about 20-30 minutes to convert to nitric oxide in the body. For best results, take daily for 3 days leading up to a race or hard workout.

Instructions

Peel and roughly chop the beetroots. Grate the fresh ginger finely.

If using a juicer: pass the beetroot and ginger through the juicer and collect the juice. If using a blender: add the beetroot, ginger, and water to a blender and blend until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.

Stir in the lemon juice, honey, and sea salt. Mix well until the honey is fully dissolved. Taste — it should be earthy, slightly sweet, and bright from the lemon.

Pour into small 100ml shot glasses or sealed jars. Refrigerate until ready to use. Shake or stir before drinking. Makes 4-5 shots.
